LED Screen Panels Price: Why Quotations Are Built Per Cabinet
Why a real LED quotation is usually built around cabinet count, specification and project scope.
If you have collected a few quotations for an LED wall, you have probably noticed they are not directly comparable. One is priced per square metre, another per cabinet, a third as a single project figure. Understanding why LED screen panels are priced per cabinet makes all three readable.
A cabinet is the unit of manufacture
The panel — the cabinet — is what the factory actually builds, tests, packs and ships. Everything in the supply chain is organised around it: the module count inside it, the receiving card that drives it, the power supply that feeds it, the frame that locks it to its neighbours.
Pricing per square metre is a derived figure. Pricing per cabinet is the real one.

What is inside the cabinet price
| Component | Share of cabinet cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| LED modules | Largest share | Driven by pixel pitch and LED package type |
| Driver and receiving card | Moderate | Scales with pixel count, not area |
| Power supply | Moderate | Sized for peak brightness, not average |
| Cabinet frame | Small to moderate | Die-cast aluminium costs more than steel, weighs much less |
| Assembly and test | Small | Higher for rental-spec cabinets — more connectors, tighter tolerances |
The frame line is worth attention. A die-cast aluminium cabinet costs more per unit but can lower total project cost, because a lighter wall needs less structure, less rigging and fewer people to install. On a moving installation this effect is amplified: every kilogram of cabinet becomes a load the motion system must accelerate and stop.
Why the same pitch can have different prices
Two cabinets at the same pixel pitch can differ by a wide margin:
- Brightness target — an outdoor cabinet at 5,000 nits carries more LED and more power than an indoor one at 800 nits
- Refresh rate — broadcast work needs high refresh; retail signage does not
- Serviceability — front-service cabinets cost more and save far more over ten years
- Cabinet flatness tolerance — matters enormously on a curved or moving wall, less on a flat fixed one
Reading a quotation
Ask for the price broken into: cabinet unit price × quantity, structure, control system, spares, and freight. If a supplier will not break it out, you cannot tell whether you are comparing like with like.

Frequently asked questions
What is included in the price of one LED cabinet?
At minimum the modules, the receiving card, the power supplies and the cabinet itself. What varies between quotations is everything around it: spare modules, mounting hardware, cable sets, and whether the control system is priced per cabinet or as a separate line. Two cabinet prices are only comparable once you know which of these sit inside the number. Cabinet price is also only half the total — the LED wall calculator works out how many cabinets a given wall size actually needs, and if the wall has to move, the motion platform is a separate package again.
Why do two P2.6 cabinets cost different amounts?
Same pitch does not mean same cabinet. Lamp brand and bin, driver IC, refresh rate, brightness, cabinet material and the number of power supplies all move the cost while the pitch on the datasheet stays identical. Refresh rate is the specification buyers skip most often and regret most often, because it only shows up on camera.
How many spare LED modules should I order?
A common working figure is two to five per cent of the module count, weighted upward for installations that are hard to reach or that travel. Spares are cheap at order time and slow to source afterwards, because module batches change.
