How to choose a kinetic LED motion system.

Start with the moving object and project boundary—not with a motor model. Five decisions narrow seven Joeqing platform families into one practical engineering route.

1. Define what actually moves

A kinetic LED project may move a complete display, independent LED modules, several screen layers, a stage object or an architectural surface. Record the object dimensions, mass, center of gravity and service access before comparing mechanisms.

A 135-inch foldable display and a large outdoor rotating landmark both move LED, but their transport, support, drive and safety boundaries are completely different.

2. Describe the path in plain language

Use the closest behavior: lift and fold; rotate in layers; extend and retract; hoist vertically; travel on a straight or curved rail; or move as a one-off kinetic object. Add the expected travel, angle, speed, number of independent axes and whether positions must synchronize.

Useful first brief: “Six double-sided layers rotate independently inside a 4 m indoor atrium and need synchronized media cues.”

3. Confirm indoor or outdoor conditions

Environment affects enclosure, materials, corrosion protection, cable routes, wind loads and maintenance. Outdoor telescopic systems also use larger modules and longer travel ranges than the indoor precision platforms in Joeqing’s current range.

4. Separate motion control from show control

Motion control manages drives, positions, limits and safety. Show control may send cues through TCP/UDP or another agreed interface. Media playback, sensors and the motion sequence must have a clear ownership boundary.

5. Choose the supply scope

Select a complete system when one supplier should coordinate LED, mechanical structure and control. Choose structure or motion only when your team already owns the LED solution. Choose a bespoke project when the shape or motion cannot be covered by a standard platform.
